Branding the Heart of Southern Hospitality

— Cathy Griffin’s reaction the moment she saw this image

There are some people who make you feel at home the moment you meet them -  Cathy Griffin is one of them.

We met through the Pensacola Moms Business Network, and before I ever arrived at her door for our branding session, I already knew she carried this rare mix of warmth, confidence, and bright Southern charm. What I didn’t know—until I stepped inside—was just how deeply that spirit runs through every corner of her life and work.

Cathy is the heart behind I Love Southern Vacays, a local Pensacola short-term rental host who believes hospitality begins long before guests walk through the door.

And as her photographer, my job wasn't to stage a version of her story.

My job was simply to show it.

A Home That Welcomes You Back to Yourself

The first thing you notice at Cathy's house is the front door—a tall, stained-glass piece with bright geometric color. Inside, bursts of color and pattern play together: curated sun art, woven textures, cheerful accents, and a “Welcome” mat that feels less like décor and more like a promise.

None of it is accidental.

Cathy creates spaces the way she cultivates relationships—full of joy, comfort, and personality.

The Woman Behind the Vibe

One of my favorite moments from this shoot is Cathy standing in her doorway with that signature yellow hat, smiling like she's been waiting for a friend to arrive. The image captures her exactly as she is—sunny, present, and effortlessly herself.

That's what makes her such a memorable host. Her guests may come for a getaway, but they remember how they felt in her presence: seen, welcomed, and cared for.

The Heart of Hospitality

When I photograph branding clients, I'm always looking for the quiet details—the small cues that tell the truth about a person's work. At Cathy's, they showed up everywhere: shells collected from local beaches, a well-worn book, her laptop open to the business she's poured years into, and plants thriving in the window light.

There's intention in every choice she makes.

Her hospitality doesn't begin when the door opens. It begins in all those details long before a suitcase rolls up the walkway.

True Southern Vibes, Captured

What I loved most about this session is that the images didn't need to pretend.

Cathy's world is already full of story—texture, color, history, heart—and all of it reflects the hospitality she brings to her guests.

She gives them more than a vacation rental.

A place to land.
A place to breathe.
A place to belong.

And I got to photograph the story behind it.

Your business already has a story.
Let's make sure people can see it.

Branding photography should feel like you—your personality, your work, and the details that make your business different.
